Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors on Dec. 13, 2025.
Ted Aymond McNulty, Sr., 78, of Sherrill, died Thursday, December 11, 2025.
Ted was born on October 15, 1947, in Pine Bluff, son of the late Stanley and Lucille McNulty. Ted grew up in Pine Bluff and graduated from Pine Bluff High School, where he was a state champion tennis player. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville before moving back to Jefferson County to farm near Sherrill.
In 1972, he married Linda Owen and started a large family-welcoming five boys in seven years-as he continued row crop and catfish farming. He was heavily involved in promoting the catfish farming industry for nearly forty years: serving as chairman of the Arkansas Legislative Committee of Catfish Farmers from 1978 to 1991, as spokesman for Rep. Beryl Anthony's National Agriculture Export Advisory committee, as president of the Catfish Farmers of Arkansas from 1984 to 1988, and as a member of the Catfish Farmers of America Board of Directors. In 1991, his leadership in the aquaculture industry was recognized when he was appointed as the State's first ever Aquaculture Coordinator of Arkansas. He served in that role for the next twenty-four years, raising the profile of the entire aquaculture industry and especially catfish and baitfish farmers across Arkansas and the entire country until his retirement in 2015.
Ted loved taking Linda and their boys fishing, and he created a 10-acre fishing paradise that the family enjoyed for decades. He revered the outdoors, spending most fall weekends with one or more sons and grandchildren in the deer woods. Always supportive of the boys' athletic pursuits, he coached Little League and built a batting cage and pitching mound next to their house that often hosted team practices. Ted was involved in politics, including traversing the country as an Arkansas Traveler in President Clinton's 1992 and 1996 presidential campaigns. When not in the deer woods, you could usually find Ted on the hunt for good deals at a local auction, cheering on the horses at Oaklawn, RV-ing with Linda, or boating around Lake Ouachita with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Lucille, his brother Stanley and his wife Jean, and an infant brother, Jerry.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Linda, their sons, Ted Jr. (Amy), Owen (Shannon), Shawn, Kelly (Tabitha), and Chris (Molly); his brothers, Randy (Robin), Donny (Ruth), and Jack (Montine); and his eleven grandchildren, Annika, Britta, Bennett, Augusta Grace, Benjamin, Samantha, Max, Maggie, Henry, Thomas, and Mary Carter.
