Ted Papendick (Pappy), age 72, of McBride passed away at home on Sunday, January 26, 2025. He was born in Edmore on August 8, 1952, to Raymond and Alberta (Evans) Papendick. Ted was raised in Cedar Lake and attended Cedar Lake Academy. The Academy is where he met the love of his life Lynn Koppen and later the two married on September 13, 1970, at the Pontiac Seventh-day Adventist Church. Together they had four children and were married for 51 years till Lynn's passing in 2021.
Ted spent his life working for his family business, Cedar Lake Stone Sales, and then driving a semi-truck for 40 years, most of those years for Gainey Transportation Services. He worked hard for his family while on the road and missed many things, but he was always there for his kids. Ted is known as one of the Papendick twins. He was very close with his twin brother Fred and those two were always getting into trouble together growing up and right up to his passing. Most of that trouble was seeing how much they could irritate their only sister Jo. He was a kind-hearted person who always put a smile on your face. He loved his children so much and enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren growing up.
Ted will forever be missed by his children DeeDee (Gus) Valerio of San Antonio, Texas. Ted (Brandon) Papendick of Auburn Hill, Teresa (Gordon) Willsie of McBride, and Todd (Carrie) Papendick of Edmore; grandchildren, Trisha, Alina (Ricky), Amanda (Jason), Jordon (Heather), Deonna, Kaitlin, Landen (Kiley), Jac, Leeland, Logan, Hailey; great-grandchildren, Levi, Janson, Kinslee, Meeah, Benson, Brantlee, Madelyn, Luckson, Huckson, and Kohen; Brothers and sister Mark (Earlene) Papendick, Carolyn (Jay) Colburn, Fred (Sheila) Papendick, and Brad Papendick; Brother and Sister-in-laws Carol Warner, Fred (Wendy) Koppen, Ted (Dawn) Koppen, and Rusty Truitt; and many wonderful nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by both his parents; wife Lynn; brother-in-law Charles Warner; sisters-in-law, Cindy Ballou, and Colleen Hautau.
Services will be planned for a later date.
