Ted was already dean of libraries when I started at UMKC in 1986. As a fellow Chicagoan, he took me under his wing, which led to numerous lunches at Fred P. Ott´s down on the Plaza. The "Biggie" was always the favorite for these repasts, but the conversation, rather than the calories, was the real treasure. Ted was witty, brilliant and just a joy to share time with. He will always be remembered fondly and still brings a smile whenever those times together are recalled. Blessings my friend and rest in peace.

He was many good things. He was my best coffee buddy. I would describe him as intelligent and humane, a loving person, a music afficionado (mostly jazz), a great raconteur. A man of great heart who could not stand injustice. Lover of good food, interesting lectures, great books, history, travelling, political debates and most of all his family. In short he was a true Renaissance man.
I'm sure he's watching Indiana U's great run from up there with his black labs by his side. I, Jo Anne and my mom will miss him always.

I first met Ted in library school, which would lead to both of us being hired at the University of Kansas. He was a person I regularly turned to for advice while we were at KU, as he would patiently listen and then make suggestions without ever being judgmental. Years after our time at KU I sought his advice about sound recording issues that I was facing at my institution, and he was incredibly generous with his time and knowledge.
Sue and I were extremely honored that Ted and Beverly made it over to the dedication of the Ranz Administrative Suite ceremony at KU in spite of the health issues he was having. It meant the world to me, and it exemplified the class of this couple.
Ted is not simply one of the best librarians I ever encountered, he was as good of a person as I ever met. My condolences to Beverly and the extended family for their loss and may your memories of a lovely and exceptional man help to soften the sorrow we all share.
