Agnes Lacy Obituary

Agnes "Gay" Lacy

January 28, 1929 - December 26, 2025

Scottsdale, Arizona - Gay Lacy was born Agnes Grace to Leo and Agnes Arensberg on January 28, 1929 in Atchison, Kansas. She attended St. Benedict Grade School, Mount St. Scholastica Academy and graduated from Mount St. Scholastica College with a degree in Biology in 1951. She completed her internship at Providence Hospital, Kansas City, Kansas in June of 1952. After passing her Registry, Gay received her degree in Medical Technology.

She married Vincent Lacy in 1953 when he returned from Korea after serving in the United States Marine Corp. They have five children, Stephen (Cathy) of Des Moines, Iowa; Susan Gonzales (Tony) of Coppell, Texas; Paul (Lisa) of Overland Park, Kansas; Jean Stoa (Todd) of Scottsdale, Arizona; and Mark (Carolyn) of Lenexa, Kansas; and grandchildren, Paul, Mary, Liz, Andrew, Jamie, Tim, Megan, Patrick, and Katie. She was preceded in death by her husband Vincent, parents Leo and Agnes and two brothers, Lee and Jack.

Gay was active at St. Agnes School PTA and Altar Society. She was part of a small group that started the first Cystic Fibrosis organization in Kansas City which later became the Heart of America Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

She returned to work as a Medical Technologist in 1983 at Mission Medical Group. Her husband's work took them to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1987. They had taken the children to Arizona for vacation many times, so it was familiar. She began working part-time at a Phoenix medical group as a Medical Technologist and made many friends.

Gay retired in 2001 and spent her time with her children and grandchildren, traveling and enjoying the cool weather in Pinetop, Arizona in the summer.

Gay was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in Scottsdale, Arizona where her Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to The Heart of America Chapter of Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Kansas City.
