Jay Jonathan Blessent

Jay Jonathan Blessent, 76, of Lake Villa, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026.

Jay was born on August 10, 1949, in Joliet, Illinois, to Earnest and Jayne Blessent. He grew up in Mahomet, Illinois, and attended Mahomet Seymour High School where he played football all four years before graduating in 1967. He continued his love of football when he attended University of Illinois.

Upon returning to Joliet, Jay worked alongside his father at 7-Up as a truck driver. Jay found his true calling in real estate. He went on to build a highly successful career spanning more than 30 years as an accomplished Real Estate Broker. Alongside his wife, Andee Hausman, Jay was the owner and Managing Broker of RE/MAX Experts in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. His colleagues were his friends, and his competitive yet kind spirit, combined with an unwavering drive for success, inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for mentoring hundreds of successful agents and for serving thousands of clients with exceptional care, integrity, and dedication.

Jay lived life in a big way. He was the life of the party, knew his way around a dance floor, laughed with his whole heart, and was an engaging storyteller. He appreciated good music and a perfectly cooked steak. Though he carried a tough-guy exterior, it was softened by a deep love of animals and nature. Jay's presence will be missed by his beloved horse, Tavo, and his loyal dog, Zoro, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond.

Jay found joy fishing on a quiet lake with his friends, sipping coffee with Andee on the deck overlooking their farm, watching the horses, and spending vacations with his growing family. He believed in working hard and playing harder, squeezing every bit of fun out of life.

Jay is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Andee Hausman. His stepdaughters, Jackie (Dan) Zinkewich, Rachel (Vince) Masse, Abbee Hausman, and Jamie (Owen) Brennan. His cherished grandchildren, Camille, Benjamin, Audrey, Brixton, Jonathan, and Bryn. His sister, Gail Blessent-Cerrone and many nieces, nephews and extended family who will miss him dearly.

A celebration of Jay's life will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jay's honor to Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and Journey Care Hospice in Barrington.
