Tennie "Elaine" Wallin Helmes, age 61, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024 at her home with, James Helmes, her husband of 22 years. Elaine loved the Lord, was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area and a member of Lake Shore Park Baptist Church in Dalton, Georgia. In her early life she grew up raising and riding horses and enjoyed karate, playing in the band, as well as playing softball. When she was indoors, she could be found spending time with her family and reading. If she was outside, she enjoyed gardening with her husband, James. She met James while in high school but they were disconnected during his time in the Air Force. Many years later they reconnected and were married in July of 2001. Elaine cared dearly for her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, James Stephen Helmes; parents, Billy Wallin Sr. and Mary "Edith" Wright Wallin, as well as her grandparents. Survivors include her daughter, Abbie Helmes; stepdaughters, Jessica Helmes, Cassandra (Dusty) Franco, Alexis Parker; goddaughter, Lauren (Jeff) Steel; brother, Billy Wallin Jr.; grandchildren, Angel, Hunter, Kelsey, Noah, Leighton, Amelia; best friend, Marsha Evans Phillips, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Donald Helmes officiating. Burial will follow in Gordy Memorial Gardens.
