Terence Frederick Maidment
Born April 28 1932 to May and Fred Maidment in Battersea East London England. His parents sold flowers on the streets of London, a real life Eliza Doolittle, teaching him the value of a days work and a love of flowers.
Evacuated to Devonshire as a child of 7, as the bombs from WWII began to land closer to home, he returned to London as a teenager after the war.
His first jobs delivering newspapers and working in a factory were short lived before joining the merchant navy as a young man on the Queen Mary traveling the world.
Terry worked as a stuntman in the film industry for almost 30 years including the Pink Panther and Bond movies while living in Chelsea.
He married Jeannie Barrett at 46 and together they managed the Turks Head, a pub in Belgravia.
Terry had his first son Zachary at 47 and second son Nicholas at 50. Talk about taking his sweet time. The Maidment family then immigrated to the US, before settling in to Rock Hill, SC where he worked in car dealerships while raising his sons. He was involved in community theatre for a production of My Fair Lady where he played Alfred P. Doolittle, father of Eliza.
Terry moved to North Myrtle Beach, SC to "retire" with Jeannie, before becoming King at Medieval Times where he worked for over a decade.
His final residence was in Black Mountain, NC where he spent his days with his Jeannie and dogs Daisy and Jaimie. Eating ice cream was a regular occurrence that he always enjoyed!
He was a happy, kind, jovial, and loving man, who considered hard work just a part of life. He was respectful and loving towards fellow mankind and animals, even though he loved to have a laugh and never failed to tell jokes or pranks on his friends. He was a true storyteller and friend to anyone fortunate enough to experience one.
Many animals were fortunate to be cared for as pets including Horse: Iberico, his horse at Medieval Times.
Cats: Haddock, Bill & Ben,
Dogs: Nobby, Molly & Stevie, Bacardi, and lastly Daisy & Jamie.
Terry was a man that accomplished more in a lifetime than most of us can dream of. His greatest accomplishment, his family, was his pride and joy. He indeed lived and enjoyed a beautiful, happy life.
"Take your time, and hurry up now love" was his favorite saying and never failed to make him laugh.
Leaving a legacy behind, his beautiful Jeannie, son Zach and Nich, and granddaughter Ayla and daughter-in-law Amy.
A service, open to family and friends, will be held Saturday July 20 at 4 pm at
Black Mountain Presbyterian Church
