Terence P. Saunders, of Wareham, passed away on January 17, 2026 at the age of 73. He was the son of the late Margaret E. (O'Rourke) and Daniel J. Saunders.

Terry was born in Frankfurt, Germany while his Father was stationed on the Rhein Main AF Base and came to the United States as a baby. He was raised in Roslindale and graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School in 1970, later attending Framingham State University before joining the United States Navy being honorably discharged in 1979. Terry settled in Weymouth where he would raise his daughter and later moved to Wareham. He retired from a lengthy career with Amtrak in Onboard Services after 26 years.

Terry was an avid Patriots fan. He enjoyed going fishing and boating along the Cape Cod Canal. He had a quirky personality and was a private man.

Terry was the Father of Michelle M. Burton and her husband Matthew of Kingston. Grandfather of Andrew & Leah. He is also survived by his close friend Eva Abruzzese and his sister Peggy Szuplat and her spouse Stach. Brother-in-law of Lynne W. Saunders and Arthur N. Marin. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he is pre-deceased by his brothers Daniel J. Saunders and James K. Saunders and his sister Mary Ann Saunders Marin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute or a charity of your choice.
