Teresa Lynn (Garsow) Andrews, age 64, of Suamico, WI, passed away unexpectedly at home on December 8, 2024, after a short illness.
Teresa was the beloved oldest daughter, and second of eight children born to Donald and Nancy (Robinson) Garsow, March 6, 1960, in De Pere, Wisconsin. She took her role of "big sissy" very seriously. Whether her siblings called her Teta, Tete, Tres, or sissy - she was like a second mom to them, many of whom she helped to care for at a very young age. She was so convincing in that role, that once when left in charge, she was able to wear her mom's pink quilted bathrobe and a wig to get her crying "baby-ist" sister to sleep. She took the liberty of offering helpful suggestions to her mom that her sisters should have pixie haircuts (while brushing her lustrous, waist-length mane), and would invite her sister into her room (that she didn't have to share) for the privilege of sitting on the floor to watch her get ready. Always a lover of music, she played her first 45 "When Will I See You Again" repeatedly on her Close'N Play record player (that she didn't have to share) and introduced her siblings to music from Queen, ABBA, Billy Joel, The Mamas & the Papas, and The Beatles, just to name a few. She helped one sister skip school for a day of fun driving around in her R/T (and returned her back to school just in time to catch the bus for home); did her little sister's hair, nails, and makeup; and bought another little sister her very own pack of gum (that she didn't have to share) when she lost her first tooth. Her siblings repaid her kindness by breaking into her locked bedroom to play with her dolls and games (or drink her hooch), and her brothers even took a magic marker to her David Cassidy poster, putting a gap in his sweet smile.
Teresa attended West De Pere High School, and worked for many years at Green Bay Dressed Beef (American Foods Group), and later at Carver Yachts. It was while working at Dressed Beef that she met the love of her life, Randy (Red Dog) Andrews. It was love at first sight, and she was his girl. They married on December 15, 1979, in
Green Bay, Wisconsin. Together, they shared the heartbreak of losing their premature daughter, Brandy Lynn, on October 29, 1978, and the joy of welcoming their children: Kristina Marie on January 6, 1981, and Jessy (Buddy) James on February 28, 1982. Teresa and Randy shared a deep and lasting bond. In the summers, you could find them riding their motorcycles together; in the winters, riding their snowmobiles together; and they loved a good Friday fish fry. When the kids were young, Teresa loved their family trips to Fox Hills Resort, in Mishicot, where all of her siblings and their families would join their parents for a week of fun. It was there that her love for karaoke was born. The "Garsow Girls" began their years-long tradition of singing together, which always included California Dreamin' from The Mamas & the Papas. Randy (with his epic harmonies) loved singing just as much as Teresa did, and karaoke became one of their favorite things to do together. Singing harmonies in the car for years was the perfect training for the kids to join in as well, and her declaration of "I'm singin' with my daughter!" was not going to be ignored. Whether the karaoke was at their house, at a family or friend's house, or at a favorite local hangout, it was always a good time and guaranteed to be entertaining when Teresa and Red Dog were there. They shared years of cherished memories with Randy's parents (Dick and Vi), his sisters, and their families, at their Friday night get-togethers at Dick and Vi's house. Many laughs (and an occasional sampling of Dick's famous wine) were had.
Teresa's greatest joy came from her family, and her unwavering devotion as a member of Jehovah's Witnesses, since being baptized on April 18, 2015. Her love and devotion will be remembered by those she is survived by, and who will always love her "65 long": her loving husband of almost 45 years, Randall; her children: Krissy (Tim) Vander Laan, Sheboygan, and Jessy Andrews (special friend Michelle), Suamico, as well as her stepdaughters: April (Frank) Heller, Bonduel, and Angel Andrews, Appleton. She was a cherished grandmother to her nine grandchildren and one great grandson: Abbi, Ajay, Alvin, Austin, Breanna, Derek, Dylan, Eleanor, Maurice (and his son D'Angelo), each of whom brought immense joy to her life. She treasured every moment she spent with her grandchildren, and every picture she received with them in it. Teresa is further survived by her siblings: Michael (Joan) Garsow, Green Bay, Geralyn (John) Kersten, De Pere, Sharon Garsow, Cudahy, Mary (Michael) Turecke, Green Bay, Jennifer (Anthony) Krause, Green Bay, and Rebecca (Beau) Bristol, De Pere, as well as Randy's sisters: Susie (Reed) Woodward, Pulaski, Kelly (Dennis) Bristol, Abrams, and Holly Jorgenson (special friend Scott), Green Bay, as well as nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Nan Garsow, her in-laws, Dick and Vi Andrews, her beloved daughter, Brandy, and her big brother, Donnie Paul, who passed away 53 days before her.
A woman of wit and kindness, Teresa will be remembered for her love of family, music, and hot coffee, her ability to make soup that tasted just like her mom's, the best meatloaf in the world, and, most of all, her devotion to Jehovah God. Her sudden passing leaves an emptiness in the hearts of all who knew her, but her spirit and love will live on in the memories of those she left behind. The family would like to thank everyone for the calls, texts, visits, and prayers said after their devastating loss.
Visitation only will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 pm at Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Howard, 1145 Cardinal Lane, Green Bay. Casual dress is encouraged.
