In Loving Memory of Teresa Ann Egan May 10, 1951 - December 2, 2025
Teresa (Terry) Ann Egan died unexpectedly on December 2nd 2025 in Minneapolis MN at the age of 74.
She was survived by her daughter Melissa Montgomery of Maplewood, grandson Derrick Montgomery Jr., granddaughter Kavannah Morin, bonus granddaughter Carolyn, siblings; Peter Egan, Tom Egan (Betty), Mary Kittlelson and Pat Egan, nieces and nephews; Liz, Ellen, Jaci, John, Carter, Nolan, Kevin and many great nieces, a great nephew, cousins, many friends and church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hilary and Shirley Egan of Marshall MN, her brother-in-law Bobby Kittleson, and sister-in-law Carol Egan.
Terry was born on May 10th 1951 in Minneapolis MN to Hilary and Shirley Egan. She graduated from Marshall Sr. High School in 1969, attended Southwest State University in 1969 and the University of MN in 1980. She began her career at the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency as a housing program technician and Notary in 1987 until her retirement in 2012.
Terry was in the United States Army and attended basic training at Ft. McClellan AL in 1970. She was stationed in GA, VA, SC, and Seoul, Korea. She was promoted to Specialists 5 in 1975, received many awards including 5 good conduct medal clasp awards for her exemplary behavior, efficiency and fidelity and a National Defense Service Medal. Terry had her daughter Melissa in March of 1978 at the Walter Reed Army Medical center in Washington D.C when she was later honorably discharged from the Army in August of 1978. Terry was very proud to serve her country and even prouder to be a woman veteran.
Terry was involved in many organizations over the years. She volunteered at her grandsons school in the kindergarten classroom by tutoring little readers, being the "gravy lady" and serving in the cafeteria. She was also very involved with her church, serving as a missionettes leader for young girls, volunteering with the Minnesota adult and teen challenge dinners, a member of the church choir, was in many holiday church plays, volunteered in the nursery, hosted tables at the ladies banquets, and was an usher in her earlier years.
Terry, a very involved thoughtful Mother and grandmother, spending alot of time with her family after her retirement. She loved feeding and bird watching, loved owls, gardening and her baking shows. She was like a 2nd mother to many of her daughter's friends growing up. She opened her home to any of them that needed somewhere to go. A baby lover and cuddler and she was known as "Mother Teresa" in church as she was frequently holding someone's baby!
Proud of her Alaskan Native heritage which included; Tlingit and Kodiak Alutiiq. Terry, her daughter and niece were able to take an amazing once in a lifetime trip to Alaska in 2024.
All are welcome to attend Terry's Celebration of Life. A funeral is scheduled for Friday, January 2nd, 2026 at Redeeming Love Church, 2425 White Bear Ave North,
Maplewood, MN 55109. Visitation at 10am Funeral at 11am Reception to follow at the church Terry' will be laid to rest with military honors at 1:45 PM at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, 7601 34th Ave S,
Minneapolis, MN 55450. Please gather 15 minutes prior at Assembly Area 2.
