Teresa Ellen (Ross) Hild, 65, of Dickinson, TX, passed away on June 2, 2025, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born on August 30, 1959, in Abilene, TX, to Irene and Cecil Ross. Teresa spent her childhood in Oklahoma City, OK, and Melbourne, FL, before her family settled in Tulsa, OK. She graduated from Central High School in 1977.
Teresa began her career as a nurse before joining her mother Irene in owning and operating two daycare centers in the Tulsa area. Later, she pursued a career as a legal transcriptionist, also known as a scopist-and became highly skilled in transcription software, earning a reputation as an exceptional scopist.
Teresa is survived by her husband of 37 years, David (Dave); stepdaughter Melissa Hild (husband Errik Wood) of Eldon, MO; sons Matthew Hild of Dickinson, TX, and Michael Hild (fiancée Kayla Hart) of Stafford, TX; and daughter Shelby Hild (husband Nathan Philip) of Vancouver, Canada. She was the proud grandmother of Ezra Hild, Elias Hild, and Audra Phillip, as well as step-granddaughter Natalie Hart.
Before marriage, Teresa was a passionate supporter of the Tulsa Roughnecks soccer team. She even traveled to Vancouver, Canada, to watch them win the NASL championship in 1983. She collected signed soccer balls from the team, babysat players' children, and formed a lifelong friendship with Billy Caskey, one of the team's star players. She later visited him and his family in Northern Ireland and remained in contact ever since.
Working from home as a scopist allowed Teresa to be an active presence in her children's lives. She became a dedicated band mom for ten years, eventually serving as president of the high school band booster club. She never missed a football game or band event and was affectionately known as "Momma Hurr" for constantly chauffeuring neighborhood kids to activities. She was endlessly proud of her children.
One of her greatest joys in recent years was caring for her grandson Ezra, who lovingly called her "Meemaw." Even while undergoing chemotherapy, she was thrilled to welcome and spend time with her granddaughter, Audra. Just days before her passing, she was able to meet her new grandson, Elias-a moment the family will always cherish.
Teresa had a deep love for animals. In addition to caring for family pets, she became an avid follower of April the Giraffe from Animal Adventure Park in New York, watching live-streams of April day and night during her pregnancies.
She was also an enthusiastic gamer who loved World of Warcraft and Star Wars games. Teresa led an online guild and built lasting friendships with fellow players across the world. Additionally, she was a genealogical researcher. She built her family tree and met many new relatives online while working on it. She searched newspaper archives for missing or incorrect portions of the family line. She was able to help many others fill in their family history.
One of her favorite memories was a 14-day Hawaiian cruise she took with Dave for their 30th wedding anniversary. They visited four Hawaiian Islands, five ports, and even stopped in Mexico before returning to Los Angeles. It was a spectacular trip that she often reminisced about.
Teresa was a kind, giving soul who would drop everything to help someone or simply listen. She was deeply empathetic, thoughtful, and full of love. She has now gone home to be with Jesus and her beloved mother. We love her deeply and will miss her always.
In her honor a visitation will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 from 1:00 – 1:30pm with a funeral service following at 1:30pm in the Crowder Funeral Home Chapel, Dickinson, Texas.
