Terri Ann Ackers, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at the age of 75. She will be remembered most for her outgoing personality, colorful style and zest for life.

Terri was born in El Paso, Texas, on November 29, 1949, to Maxine Ferris and Andres Fuentes. She graduated from Coronado High School in 1968 and was crowned the Duchess of the Sun Carnival in 1969. She began her studies at Texas Tech University before transferring to the University of Texas at El Paso, where she graduated and was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Terri's greatest joy was being a mother to her son Kevin and daughter Emily. While raising her kids in El Paso, Terri was a high school special education teacher at Ysleta High School for 10 years and had a private practice in speech pathology for 15 years. Terri was very involved in the American Red Cross, Sun Bowl Host Committees and The Junior League.

After a long courtship, Terri married the love of her life, Gary Ackers on February 8, 1993 at First Christian Church in Abilene, Texas. They moved to Barton Creek Lakeside in Spicewood, Texas in 1998, where Terri was an avid golfer and enjoyed outscoring her friends on the golf course regularly. She even racked up numerous Club and Member-Guest Championships at Barton Creek Lakeside Country Club and Alto Lakes Golf and Country Club in Ruidoso, New Mexico. She was one of the founders of the Barton Creek Lakeside Women's Golf Association and served as President from 1998-2000. In 2017, Terri and Gary moved to Abilene, Texas and eventually moved full-time to her happy place, their ranch in Shackelford County, where they enjoyed hosting their family and friends often.

Terri was an incredible wife, loving mother and proud grandmother whom her grandkids lovingly called Obie. She undoubtedly loved her flock with a passion. Known as "Decorator Dog" for her keen eye for design, she curated beautiful homes for her family and friends and created stunning wreaths for her loved ones. She never met a stranger and was always the life of the party. Everyone was drawn to her radiant smile, mischievous spirit and enthusiasm for life, and she will be missed by many.

Terri is survived by her husband Gary Ackers; son Kevin Schoch and daughter-in-law Meredith; daughter Emily Schoch Guillory and son-in-law David; son Brandon Ackers; son Glen Ackers and daughter-in-law Suzanne Ackers; seven grandchildren Aiden Guillory, Abigail Ackers, Marshall Guillory, Matthew Schoch, Madeline Ackers, Ellie Schoch and Caridee Ackers; sister-in-law Anne Fuentes, as well as much-loved nieces and nephews.

Terri was preceded in death by her mother Maxine Ferris Fuentes; father Andres Fuentes; and brother Andy Fuentes.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on the afternoon of Saturday August 30, 2025, at The Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest in Abilene, Texas. Rector David Romanik will officiate. Immediately following the service a reception will be held at Abilene Country Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Terri's honor to The Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org), The Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest in Abilene (www.heavenlyrestabilene.org) or to a charity of your choice.

The family wishes to thank the amazing staff at Lyndale Memory Care Facility, as well as Dr. Sam Brinkman and Hospice Interim HealthCare for their special care of Terri.
