Terri Hessen

Terri Maureen Hessen passed peacefully at home in Birmingham, Saturday, July 15th, 2023. She was 55 years old. She was born on January 24th, 1968, to Bill and Maureen Lawton.
Terri loved doing many things, but mostly anything that involved family. There was always something wonderful baking in her kitchen, especially around the holidays – her favorite time of year. She was known for wearing flip-flops almost year-round, because of her love of the summer and the beach. Her faith was unshakable, even amid her pain.
Anyone who knew Terri knew that she had a way of making you feel loved. Her smile was as radiant as she was. When she learned she had terminal cancer, she beat the odds of expectancy – lived her life to the fullest – and continued to balance family, work, surgeries and treatment with grace.
She is survived by her beloved husband and best friend of 33 years, Kevin, her children, Jacob and Joshua Hessen and Sydney (Nathan) Vieregge. She is also survived by her parents, Maureen Lawton, Bill Lawton, sister Sandy (Dave) Fuller, brother, Bill Lawton, Jr., and numerous extended family members, nieces and nephews and dear friends, and her beloved dog, Penny. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Isabell and Maury O'Neill and Pat Lawton.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 18th, 4-8pm and Funeral Service the following morning, Wednesday, July 19th at 11am. Both the visitation and funeral will be held at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1800 W. Maple Road, Birmingham.
