Terri Sue Thacker, age 62, of Chillicothe, passed away on Monday, September 11 2023 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria with family by her side.
Terri was born on November 28, 1960 in Bloomington, IL to William and Marjorie (Roark) Yount. She married Tim Thacker of Chillicothe, IL on July 8, 1978 in Bloomington, IL.
Terri is survived by her husband, Tim; her sons, Trevor (Samantha) Thacker of Mapleton, IL, Travis (Tabatha) Thacker of Chillicothe, IL and Tyler Thacker of Pekin, IL; her grandchildren, Brecken and Levi and she has another grandson on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Steve Yount and sister, Mickey Boitnott.
Terri was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She was proud of her three boys. She especially lit up with her beautiful smile when visiting with her grandchildren. She loved going to rummage and community sales looking for “vintage” items to decorate her yard and home. Always on the lookout for unique things that she thought others would enjoy.
Terri worked for First National Bank of Chillicothe for many years. As her family grew, she provided in home daycare for many of Chillicothe’s children in order to raise her family at home. She later worked for the IVC school district as a teacher’s aide. It was a common occurrence for Terri to be approached by these now adults to thank her for the positive influence that she had on them. After her kids were raised Terri worked as the catering director at Caterpillar for 13 years. Terri was an incredibly productive multi-tasker who people could count on.
She was very active in numerous committees and organizations such as the parent teacher association. Terri enjoyed working in her yard and garden, taking trips with her husband and friends on their Harley, doing for others and spending time with family and friends. Terri was a kind, selfless soul who always put others needs above her own. Her spirit will live on through all that knew her.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 4pm to 6pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe with a service at 6pm. Memorials may be made to the Terri Thacker Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be made through www.weberhurdfuneralhome.com
