Funeral services for Terrie Brummett, 79, of Bedford, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2024, at Chandler Memorial Funeral Home, with David Cason officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brummett passed away on December 17, 2024, in Bedford.
Terrie Ann (Cason) Brummett was born on April 17, 1945, in Athens, Texas, to Col Boyce Cason and Oneta (Geddie) Cason. She graduated from Athens High School in 1963 and earned her bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. After graduation, she worked for several years as a social worker at the CPS Office in Tyler, ETMC, and Trinity Mother Frances. Later, Terrie returned to school at McLennan Community College and obtained her certification as a nursing home administrator. She held that position at various nursing homes in Sulphur Springs, Emory, Lindale, and finally at Parkwood Healthcare Community in Bedford, where she eventually retired. Terrie enjoyed shopping, traveling, reading, and listening to music. She was known for her kindness, consideration, patience, generosity, and deep concern for the well-being of others, especially her family. Friends often referred to her as an angel, a description that could not be more accurate. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her son, Christopher Lynn Cavender.
Survivors include her husband, Gregory Paul Brummett of Bedford; her step-son, Jeffrey Clayton Brummett and wife Emily of Bedford; her step-grandson, Theodore James Brummett of Bedford; her siblings, David Cason and wife Jeanne of Abilene, Mark Cason and wife Audrey of Costa Rica, and Debbie Cason of Chandler; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to any organization that supports research on Corticobasal Syndrome or to Compass Christian Church, 2600 Hall Johnson Rd, Colleyville, Texas 76034.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Chandler Memorial Funeral Home family.
