The family of Terry Lee Berlin, age 77, of
Centerville, Pennsylvania, is saddened to announce his passing on December 14, 2025, at his home surrounded by those who loved him.
Terry lived a life defined by hard work and taking responsibility. He worked out of love for his family, a deep sense of pride, and the belief that any job worth doing was worth doing right. He showed his love through his work and placed great value on caring for things and people, acting always with gratitude and respect.
A man of faith, Terry lived his values quietly and consistently. He adored his wife and was deeply devoted to his family.
Those who knew Terry associate him with his love of being on his equipment, tinkering in the garage, and working with his hands. His beloved wife, Becky, said she fell in love with his hands-the biggest, most beautiful hands she had ever seen – hands that built their life together and held those he loved.
He was a protector and provider with a dry sense of humor, and if he liked something, you'd hear the smile in his voice and a simple "cool, cool" to show his approval. Terry had a nostalgic side. He loved history, reminiscing over old photographs, and the natural beauty of the Pennsylvania woods and the mountains out west. He enjoyed being out on his buggy, exploring new places and breaking new ground.
Terry cherished life's simple pleasures: sitting in his chair beside his wife having a good chuckle, his cat on his lap, enjoying a cold glass of milk – usually with a bologna sandwich and cookies close by.
Terry graduated from Townville High School in 1968 and went on to attend the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics where he graduated top of his class. He served in the United States Army 1968 to 1971, including service in Thailand.
Following his military service, Terry worked for 33 years at PennDOT as a heavy equipment operator, building roads and plowing them during long winter shifts, often working through the night, to ensure people's safety – work grounded in responsibility and care for his community.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Orlo and Pearle, and his sister, Rebecca.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Becky; his daughter, Brandy (Glenn) and son Chad (Teresa); grandchildren, Devon and Dakota; brothers Ran (Joyce), Bill (Donna), Jim (Margaret), Joe (Kathy), Steve (Cindy); honorary sons, Aaron and Dave (Jen); honorary grandchildren John and Shelby; and dear friend Steve (Tina)
A service officiated by Pastor Larry Hellein will be held Friday, December 19 at 11AM at Hydetown Community Church. Those who wish are welcome to gather after the service to celebrate Terry's life at the cabin he and his sons built and loved. Above all, Terry was a devoted husband and father whose life was a quiet testament to faith, hard work, and devotion – values that live on in the family he cherished.
