Terry Martin Bertl

Terry Martin Bertl, age 78, of Roscommon, died on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at his home in the presence and comfort of his family.
Terry was born September 22, 1947, in Grayling, Michigan, the son of Herman, Jr. and Beatrice Bertl.
Terry married Nancy Whelpley on March 12, 1988, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Terry loved traveling on his motorcycle. He liked golfing, kayaking, and playing pool in the Senior League. Most of all, Terry loved spending time with his family. He always knew someone no matter where he went. Terry will be remembered for his passion to help others no matter what time of day it was.
Terry will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy of 43 years; daughters: Shawn Bertl (Jeff Jackson) of Big Rapids, Michigan, Dawn Denney (Tim) of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Lynn Underwood (Jim) of Roscommon, Michigan, Kathy Peters (Mike) of Houghton Lake, Michigan; son, Thomas Whelpley of Houghton Lake, Michigan; grandchildren: Justin Bertl (Danielle) of Roselle, Illinois, Jeremy Mayfield of Big Rapids, Michigan, James "JT" Fishell (Tara) of Jasper, Florida, Nancy Fishell (Nate Alhaj) of East China, Michigan, David Underwood (Melissa) of Houghton Lake, Michigan, Jeff Ostrander of Traverse City, Michigan, Ron Peters of Houghton Lake, Michigan, Samantha Bailey (TJ) of Adrian, Michigan, George Whelpley (Shar) Roscommon, Michigan, Chelsie Whelpley of Houghton Lake, Michigan, Jessie Whelpley of Tampa Bay, Florida, Taylor Whelpley (Wyatt Wangler) of Houghton Lake, Michigan, Jaclyn Quintoro (David) of Big Rapids, Michigan, Julia McMullen (James) of Big Rapids, Michigan; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; sisters in law, Barbara St. Pierre (James) of Holly, Michigan, Virginia Masters of Warren, Michigan; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Hal; sisters, Beth Ann and Dorothy Jean; grandson, Michael Gibson.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 11:00-1:00 PM, until the time of the Funeral at 1:00 PM, at Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, 143 Lake Street, Roscommon, Michigan 48653.
