Terry Wilson Bickford, 90, of Columbia, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at his home at Lenoir. He was born on May 4, 1934, in Weeping Water, Nebraska, the son of Wilson and Thelma (Hunt) Bickford.
Terry graduated from Weeping Water High School in 1952. After high school he attended Peru State College from 1952-1954. He joined the United States Army, where he proudly served his country from 1954-1956. He later received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia College in 1976.
Once he returned from the Army, he began work at State Farm Insurance, where he spent his career until retiring after 38 years with the company.
Terry was actively involved in the community. He was a member of the University of Missouri Quarterback Club, where he served as a board member. In the 1960s, he was a member of the Hill-Nichols State Farm Insurance Looper League and slow-pitch softball club, leading the team to multiple successful seasons. He was the President of the State Farm Employee's Activities Association in the 1960s. He volunteered at the Central Missouri Food Bank, the Columbia Senior Activity Center, and the Central Missouri Humane Society. Terry was a huge Mizzou Tigers sports fan, being a season ticket holder for most all of the sports at M.U. for many years. He enjoyed having coffee on Thursday mornings with his friends at Trumans. But the joy of his life was his granddaughter, Danielle.
Along with his granddaughter Danielle Bickford of Scottsdale, Arizona, he is also survived by a brother Reginald Bickford of Greeley, Colorado; sister Nancy Hermance of Greeley, Colorado; and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Thelma Bickford; his brother, Roger Bickford; and son and daughter in law Craig and Angela Bickford.
Friends and family will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Parker-Millard Funeral Service, with a Memorial Service to be held at 4:00 p.m.
Memorials in his honor may be made to: Central Missouri Humane Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker-Millard Funeral Services and Crematory, 12 East Ash Street, Columbia, MO 65203 (573)449-4153. Condolences can be made to the family at www.parkermillard.com.
