Terry Collett Roof Doster, 79, of Chester, passed away on December 21, 2025, after a series of health complications.
Born on October 23, 1946, in Chester, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Glenn Roof and Beatrice Julie Bigham Roof. Terry attended Chester County Schools and went on to a long and proud career at Essex, where she eventually retired. Terry was a beloved member of her community and a woman of many passions. Her kindness and commitment to her family and faith were evident to all who knew her. She gave of herself without ever asking anything in return. Those who knew Terry knew she was quiet and reserved, but she could have a sharp sense of humor, and nothing got past her.
Terry is survived by her loving children, Sherry Byars (Martin), Dewayne Doster (Becky), Michelle Varnadore (Scott) and Jennifer Owens (Sean); three brothers, Glenn Roof, Roger Dale Roof (Brenda) and Nolan Roof. Her memory will be forever cherished by her grandchildren, Katie Doster, Cole Igou, Sarah Burtelle (Austin), Lydia Doster (Brandon), Joshua Varnadore, Ruthie Varnadore and Doster Owens.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Pelham Ernest Doster and her brother Robert “Cooter” Roof.
The visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 23 at Wilksburg Baptist Church. Reverend Kenneth “Hutch” Hutchins will conduct the funeral beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary. The burial will be in Chester Memorial Gardens. Pollard Funeral Home is serving the family.
