Terry Esponge Obituary

Terry Wayne Esponge, age 78 and a native of Buras, Louisiana, passed away at home peacefully surrounded by family in Gonzales, Louisiana on October 8, 2022. Terry was born in Golden Meadow, Louisiana to Alzina and Policar Esponge. He attended Buras High School where he graduated in 1962. He was employed as a mechanic with Chevron Oil Company until his retirement in 1988. He was an avid classic car enthusiast. Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Alzina Ledet Esponge and Policar Esponge; and his sisters, Adrina Ladner and JoAnn O'Pry. Terry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lillie Touchet Esponge; his children, Kathleen Esponge Daniel (Thomas), Nanette Esponge Callais, and Perry Esponge; his grandchildren, Brooke Sonnier Millien, Trey Esponge, Reagan Esponge, and Teri Ann Daniel; his great-grandchildren, Paxton, Lola, Holden, and Finn; and his sisters, Doris Wimberley (Floyd) and Lena Stockstill. Pallbearers will be Perry Esponge, Trey Esponge, Jessie Fabiano, Danijel Dekovic', Terry Dale O'Pry, and Rudy Landry. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or any cancer research foundation. Terry's family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Bridgeway Healthcare & Hospice and Fr. Eric Gyan of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Gonzales, Louisiana. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Belle Chasse, Louisiana on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 10 am until Funeral Mass time at 1 pm. Burial will follow at OLPH Cemetery, Belle Chasse, Louisiana. Mothe Funeral Homes handled arrangements.
