Terry Gandy: The Last Episode of the Revolution
Terry Olando "Big G" Gandy was born August 29, 1968 to parents Roy & Eula Gandy. He was the youngest of nine children. At an early age, Terry joined Mt Rose Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an usher until his death. Terry graduated in 1986 from Georgiana High School.
Upon graduation, Terry attended University of Alabama and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English. He later received a Master's degree in English from Alabama A&M University. Terry was then employed at Aliceville High School as an English teacher and was assistant head football coach. He left Aliceville in 2006 and furthered his teaching career at Stone Middle School in Melbourne, FL, where he also coached at Viera High School. However, home is where the heart is, and his heart led him to return to Alabama to teach English at Thurgood Marshall Middle School and coach their middle school basketball team. Terry also coached football and softball at Hillcrest High School in Evergreen, AL. He departed this world on August 2, 2025.
Terry always had a passion for helping others, often, putting them before himself. He pushed people to be great individuals. He was so full of life and left a lasting impression on everyone that he came into contact with. He was a strong supporter of his students and his colleagues. He always had a kind word, a good song, a dance, or a joke to lift people's spirits. With his love of cooking, he could always be relied upon to make a great meal. Though the love he gave was tough, we all appreciate the amount of passion he had for supporting others. Terry's legacy will live on through us all.
Preceding Terry in death are his parents Roy & Eula Gandy; brother, Roy Gandy Jr; and sister, Jacqueline Gandy.
Terry leaves to cherish his memory a beautiful daughter Shatera Taylor, Aliceville, AL; brother Jerry (Michele) Gandy, Prattville AL, sisters: Peggy Gandy, Myra Gandy, Rosabell Owens, Deborah Gandy, all of Georgiana AL, and Anice (Allen) Love, Huntsville, AL; nieces & nephews: Natacha, Alberta, Demetric, Jeffrey, Montice, Kimberly, Damon, Khary, Aubrey, Daivon, Tasha, Premiere, Alexandria, Anthony, Christan, Demetri, Kollin, Emory, Alejandro, Trafton, Keishia, and Tierra; Aunts Narvie Gandy, Voncille Lymon; special Aunt Lillie Bell Dotson; special cousin Ralph Presley; Godsisters Gladys, Dorothy, Margaret Ann; a special group, the Brotherhood; friends Willie "Heavy D" (Melissa) Rudolph, Millard Coleman, Antonio Grandison, Tyrone McCall, and Jamal "Frenchie" Smith; his beloved Mt Rose Baptist Church family; and a host of cousins and friends. Although Terry left us too soon, we will hold on to his memories for times to come. This revolution SHOULD be televised.
