Terry Baker Grissing
Rochester, NY - Terry Baker Grissing, age 73, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents, John and Barbara (Berridge) Baker, and siblings James Baker, Beverly Baker, and Joan Turner. Survived by her husband Edward (Ed) Grissing, daughters Leslie (Yucel) Kahraman and Emily Grissing, grandchildren Mason and Molly Kahraman, brother David {Mary), sister-in-law Ellen Baker, brother-in-law Jeffrey Turner, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends.
Terry grew up in Walworth and Marion, NY, and later in Hamlin, NY, and graduated from Brockport High School and the University of Rochester School of Nursing. After a variety of roles at Strong Memorial Hospital, she spent the greater portion of her nursing career at Highland Hospital in the labor and delivery unit, where she delivered outstanding care to patients and their families. After retirement, she was active as a community volunteer in several settings. Consistent throughout her life was the highest level of integrity and an amazing work ethic.
Terry's interests included traveling, gardening, and meeting new people and offering hospitality in whatever ways she could. In recent years, her favorite things to do were ones that allowed her time to spend with her grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 10:00 am at Farmington Friends Meeting, 187 County Rd 8 (Canandaigua Rd) Farmington, NY 14425.
Donations may be made in Terry's memory to The Hochstein School, Farmington Friends Meeting, or to an organization of your choice.
