Terry Jean Mapp

Terry Jean Mapp, born on July 14, 1960, in Norfolk, VA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 9, 2024, in Chesapeake, VA, at the age of 64.
Terry dedicated much of her life to her passion for cheerleading and beauty. She spent many years as a cherished cheerleading coach for the Great Bridge Cats, where she inspired and molded countless young athletes. Additionally, she worked as a skilled hairdresser, bringing joy and confidence to her clients through her artistry.
In her personal life, Terry was known for her profound love of animals, her enthusiasm for discovering treasures at thrift stores, and her joy for dancing. The beach held a special place in Terry's heart, particularly the serene shores of the Outer Banks. Her dedication to coaching was matched only by her love for her family and friends.
Terry is preceded in death by her beloved parents, John and Geraldine Chatham. She leaves behind her daughter, Amanda Rector, and her husband, Sam, of Chesapeake. She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Sam, Kayla, and Stacy, along with a host of other family members and friends who were touched by her kindness and spirit.
Terry's memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
