Terry L. Miles, 70, of Quincy, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
Terry was born February 9, 1955, in Quincy, IL to Paul and Vivian (Drummond) Miles. He was married to Jan Schneider on December 6, 1975, in Quincy, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include his son, Joshua L. Miles (Krista) of Quincy; three grandchildren, Alex, Allyson, and Aiden Miles, of Quincy; and one brother, David Miles (Martha) of Mt. Pleasant, IA.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Paula Jean and Joyce.
A proud graduate of Quincy High School in 1973, Terry went on to dedicate many years of hard work as a tow motor operator at Knapheide. He was a valued employee until his well-deserved retirement in 2019.
Terry's passion for the great outdoors was evident to all who knew him. The river was his sanctuary, a place where he found peace and contentment. An avid fisherman, he spent countless hours on his boat, with Montauk, MO, being his favorite destination for trout fishing. His love for nature extended to hunting for deer and squirrel, as well as trapping on farmers' ponds. He was also a skilled mushroom hunter, delighting in the pursuit of these hidden treasures of the forest.
Not one to sit idle, Terry had a creative side that he expressed through rock tumbling and woodcarving. His intricate pieces were a testament to his patience and attention to detail. A lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, Terry's enthusiasm for his team was unwavering, and he enjoyed the simple pleasure of listening to country music, which often served as the soundtrack to his leisurely pursuits.
Family was the cornerstone of Terry's life. He treasured every moment spent with his loved ones, whether it was piecing together a jigsaw puzzle, teaching his granddaughter the strategic game of chess, or savoring a family meal followed by a lively game of 31. His presence at these gatherings was a source of happiness and comfort to his family, and his absence will leave a void that cannot be filled.
Cremation is under the direction of O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home. There will be no formal services at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made to his grandchildren's education fund c/o Jan Miles.
