Obituary published on Legacy.com by Reed Funeral Home - Canton Chapel on Oct. 1, 2025.
Terry K Morris, age 85, of Savage, Minnesota, formerly of Massillon, Ohio, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025 after a period of declining health. He was born in Beallsville, Ohio, on Saturday, March 16, 1940 to Cleo P. and Donald R. Morris. He attended Cedar Elementary School and then Timken High School, graduating in 1958. Terry worked at Stark Dry Goods in Downtown Canton when he was 17 years old. In the summer of 1957, between his Junior and Senior years of high school, he began his 33-year career with the Timken Company as an Apprentice in the Tool Room in the Bearing division. After two and a half years in the Tool Room, he moved to the Suggestion Department in the Steel division, then in Job Evaluation, ending up in the Systems Department in the Bearing Operations division. He remained in Systems until his retirement at age 50 in 1990. After taking some time to travel, he got a job at The Legends Golf Course in Massillon in the spring of 2001 and worked there until April of 2020 when he suffered a stroke and was no longer able to work.
On September 14, 1957, he met his soulmate, Kay, at Eckard's Drive-In, and they were married on May 9, 1959. Terry was quite an athlete and Kay went with him to all of his games. He began his sports journey at age nine, playing on the first Little League baseball team in Southwest Canton. While at Cedar School, he also played basketball. As an adult, he played fumbleball for many years - both in a Canton Rec league and a Timken League at Timken Park. His talents on the ball field earned him a membership in the Canton Amateur Sports Hall of Fame. He was also an avid golfer and made four holes in one in his lifetime - two at Alliance Country Club where he was a member for several years, one at Green Valley, and one at the Legends. In the winters, he played volleyball and bowled in a league. He loved the competition in sports, but, mostly, he loved being part of a team and doing things with his friends. He and a group of his friends went to Canada for a week-long fishing trip every August for years, and he shared many funny stories of their antics. Terry made annual family vacations a priority, so their two daughters are blessed with many wonderful memories. Terry was well-liked and liked people and had countless friends over the years. It seemed that sometime during every family vacation, no matter the location, he would run into someone he knew. After their girls were grown, Terry and Kay took some longer vacations with family and friends and also took golf trips with friends to Myrtle Beach and Lakeview Country Club in West Virginia. Terry was an animal lover, so many of the vacation pictures from these trips were of animals. He especially enjoyed their western trip and their Alaska cruise and talked about them for the rest of his life.
Terry lost his beloved Kay in July of 2023 after 64 years of marriage; a blow from which he never recovered. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law Mary and Edward (Ted) Heinbaugh, his brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Julia Heinbaugh, and his treasured dogs Dusty, Shorty, and Abby. He leaves behind to cherish his memory daughters Beth Spaude (Todd) of Minnesota, and Lora Wenger of Bolivar, Ohio; grandchildren, Jessica Elliott (Brett), Jake and Katie Spaude, and Haley Wenger; great grandsons, Hudson and Blake Elliott and many nieces, cousins and friends.
