Terry Ray Reeter, age 77, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family.
Terry was born the son of Vernie C. and Vivian (Dickerson) Reeter on January 28, 1947, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He attended Jamesport High School. He was united in marriage to Linda Mae Cooper on January 15, 1966, in Chillicothe, Missouri. Terry and Linda met at a church hayride at the age of 14. She survives of the home. In March of 1966, Terry was drafted in the United States Army, receiving basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama, for his AIT training in Germ and Chemical Warfare. He then served in Vietnam, before returning to Fort Carson, Colorado, and was honorably discharged in 1968 with the rank of Specialist 5.
Terry was born and raised on a farm and continued to love the outdoor life, and was an avid deer hunter. He enjoyed helping others maintain their vehicles and equipment. He was passionate about keeping all the lawns, fields and road banks mowed to perfection for all those he cared about.
He is survived by his wife Linda Reeter, of the home; one son, Clayton Reeter and fiancé Christie Wellner of Columbus, Nebraska; one daughter, Kim Johnson of Cameron, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Terry E. Reeter, Kaitlyn Mathews, Anna Buzzard (Aaron Roberts), Caroline Reeter (Kirby Stevens), Clayton Reeter, Jr., Lake Still (Andrea Harrison), Jordanlyn Reeter, McKenna Wellner and Lyndie Johnson; three step grandchildren, Kayla, Blake and Tristan Grebner; nine great-grandchildren, Merle Reeter, Remi and Ledger Buzzard, Marcus Hess, Mason Reeter, Reece Stevens, Nathan and Vincent Reeter and Wren Still; four step great-grandchildren, Isaac Steadman, Jude Grebner, Emmett and Maggie Curtis; beloved sister-in-law, Wanda Wooden of Windsor, Colorado; cousins, Paul Reeter of Madison, Wisconsin, Darrell Plowman of Chillicothe and Doug Reeter of Chillicothe, several nieces and nephews, and many other family members, friends and neighbors in the Sturges, Missouri community. He is also survived by the special friends that he gathered with weekly at Plowman's Garage. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Vernon Reeter; sister, Delores Ashford; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ben and Irlene Cooper; close cousins, Jim and Dixie Reeter; beloved brother-in-law, John Dale Wooden.
Per Terry's request, there will be no visitation or public services held. A private graveside service with military honors will be held for immediate family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House at 12000 Wornall Road in Kansas City, Missouri 64145, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
