Terry Ray Ross, 64, of Boonsville, went to be with our Lord on Friday, July 11, 2025.
A funeral service to honor Terry's life will take place on Friday at 10:00 AM at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport, followed by a burial at Boonsville Cemetery. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather at the funeral home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday evening.
Born to Ray and Carolyn Ross in Mesquite, Texas, on February 14, 1961, Terry cherished a rich life marked by love and service. He married Kellye Womack on April 21, 1978, sharing 44 beautiful years together until her passing in July 2022. He was a cherished member of his community as well as the Balsora Baptist Church.
Terry loved being a father to his daughter, Amanda, but his heart grew even more when he became a grandfather to his grandsons, Hunter and JT. Terry was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many that will miss him dearly.
Terry's life was vibrant and multi-faceted; to say he wore many hats was an understatement. Beginning in high school, he worked at his father's store, J&R, in Bridgeport. He later became a skilled butcher in Runaway Bay, where his renowned porterhouse steaks drew customers from far and wide, who cherished not just the steaks but also the conversations that came with them; sometimes he would spend hours talking with his beloved customers. His warm personality and deep connections with the community led him to serve as County Commissioner for 12 years, a role he embraced with pride. Later in life, he established Rockin’ R Pilot Car Services, which allowed him to fulfill his dream of working and traveling alongside his late wife. Amid all his endeavors, Terry found the most fulfillment and pride in the friendships he fostered along the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Carolyn Ross, and his beloved wife, Kellye Ross.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Amanda Ross Cox, and her husband, Brian, of Bridgeport, Texas; grandsons Hunter Ross and JT Cox, of Bridgeport; sisters Kim Admire of Bridgeport, Bonnie Green and husband Trenton of Ennis; his partner later in life, Becky Morrow; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Terry’s memory will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared. He will be deeply missed.
