Terry Joe Scott, 64, of Hendersonville, TN passed away on December 5, 2024.
Terry was born on January 24, 1960 in North Platte, Nebraska and moved with his family to Memphis before settling in Parsons, TN.
Terry attended Riverside High School and graduated in 1978. He went on to play baseball at Jackson State Community College before transferring to Middle Tennessee State University where he met his wife Cindy. Terry and Cindy moved to Hendersonville in 1984. Terry retired in 2023 and spent his time traveling with his wife and family.
Terry loved sports. On Friday nights you would find him watching Hendersonville Commando football no matter where they played. He umpired softball and baseball for the Hendersonville Parks Department and TSSAA for over 30 years and also coached various basketball teams for both of his children. He was always cheering the loudest on the sidelines at his granddaughter’s soccer games. Terry and his wife, Cindy were avid supporters of the Vols and enjoyed traveling to Knoxville for Lady Vols basketball games where they were season ticket holders.
Terry’s love for his family was unmatched and he made spending time together a priority. Whether it was planning annual family vacations, visiting his family in Parsons, or simply taking his granddaughter Scotlyn to her favorite places- Chick Fil A and Costco- he was always looking for ways to be together.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, father Harold Scott (Julia), and mother Carolyn Mayo Scott.
He is survived by his wife of forty years, Cindy Scott, daughter Lindsay Whittin (Dustin), son Robert Scott, his granddaughters Scotlyn Whittin and Spencer Whittin, mother Julia Scott, sister Jennifer Martin, brothers Boo Scott (Sheila) and John Scott (Kathy), numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
