Terry L. Staggs

Terry L. Staggs, of Lincoln, MO, formerly of Independence, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, June 25th, 2021 with a service at 2pm, Saturday, June 26th, both at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052.
Interment will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery.

Terry was born October 17, 1954 in Kansas City, MO to William and Juanita (Tharp) Leighty. Before graduating from Van Horn High School in 1972, she began working as a secretary for area law firms, which continued throughout her adult life including time at Lathrop & Gage, as well as, Bryan Cave.

Terry never met a stranger and became fast friends with everyone she met. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Terry is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Randy Staggs; her sons, Jason Staggs of Independence, Eric Staggs of Independence and Troy (Jessica) Staggs of Grain Valley; bonus sons, Luke Kerr, Kelsen Lane, Aaron Pederson and Michael Thomas; grandchildren, Kayla Dettlaff, Keegan Staggs, Memphis Staggs, Derek Staggs, Christopher Staggs, Brayden Staggs, and Gracelyn Staggs; brother, Larry Leighty of Independence, aunt, Kay McCullough of Raleigh, NC; as well as several nieces, nephews and bonus children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her grandmother, Grace Tharp and infant triplets, William, Eddie and Marie.
