The Thompson’s--Together in Life and in Passing
David passed away, just nine days after the death of his beloved wife, Kathleen. Their bond, forged over 26 years of marriage, remained unbroken to the very end.
-------------------------------------------
Kathleen Sue “Kathy” Thompson, age 75 of Xenia, OH, passed away, Thursday, August 7, 2025. She was born June 7, 1950, in Topeka, KS, the daughter of the late Harlan D. and Betty L. (Sayre) Shepherd.
A beloved figure to her family and friends, Kathleen was known for her caring nature and deep love for those around her.
During her professional life, she initially worked for Dr. Keith H. Peh, M.D., where she made lasting contributions to the care of his patients for many years. She later continued her commitment to service at Home Run Incorporated.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Kathleen found joy in her passions. A lifelong fan of Elvis, she cherished the music that brought her happiness, and her enthusiasm extended to her loyalty as a Cincinnati Reds baseball fan. These pastimes reflected the enjoyment she derived from life’s simpler pleasures.
Among her most admirable qualities was Kathleen’s selflessness, particularly evident during the years she dedicated herself to caring for her husband after his injury. This aspect of her character truly embodied her devotion, as she consistently placed the needs of her loved ones above her own.
While Kathleen preferred to maintain her privacy, those who knew her understood the depth of her heart. Her legacy will not only be remembered through her professional contributions but also through the enduring love she shared with her family.
Kathleen Sue Thompson leaves a lasting impact on all who had the honor to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen is preceded in death by a brother, Charles P. (Charlotte; Patricia) Shepherd; father-in-law, Ronald Thompson; nephew, Paul D. Avery, Jr.; and beloved dog, Nicky. Kathleen is survived by a devoted husband, David Ross Thompson, who passed nine days following her death; mother-in-law, Shirley Thompson; brother, Donald E. (Teri) Shepherd); brothers-in-law, Ronald Thompson and Donald Thompson; sister-in-law, Amy (Joel) Askey; nieces and nephews, Donielle Avery, Benjamin Shepherd, Rachel Shepherd, Samuel Askey, Sarah Askey and Jonathan Askey; great nieces, Talyne (Bodey) Hupp, Kierstyn (Caleb) Keys and Mackenzie Ray; great-great niece and nephews, Lapis Hupp, Enzo Hupp and Dawson Keys; and cousins, extended family and dear friends.

David Ross Thompson, age 62 of Xenia, OH, passed away, Saturday, August 16, 2025. He was born June 28, 1963, in Berkley, MI, the son of Ronald Ross and Shirley Ruth (Singleton) Thompson.
David was known for his sense of humor and his love of making people laugh, second only to his love of his wife, Kathy. David was an avid sports fan and, while attending Wright State University, was on the wheelchair basketball team. During his professional life, he worked at various retail companies to include CVC and Walmart, and most recently at Home Run Inc., where he worked alongside Kathy.
His passions were vast and deeply held. A dedicated history buff, he had a particular fascination with World War II and a profound love for aircraft, which he explored by going to flight museums. He was an avid fan of classic cars, and he enjoyed going to car shows with his wife and parents.
He was a huge fan of the Star Trek series to include all spin-off series and had the opportunity to meet several cast members. He also enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, as well as tracking where his money traveled via the website WheresGeorge.com. He and Kathy traveled a lot and saw almost all 50 states and went on 3 cruises to Hawaii, Bahamas, and Alaska. David was also a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Reds. He and Kathy had season tickets.
David is preceded in death by his father, Ronald; nephew, Paul D. Avery Jr; his friend Dana Haughn; and faithful pet companion, Nicky. He is survived by his loving mother, Shirley; three siblings, Ronald Thompson; Amy (Joel) Askey; Donald Thompson; nieces and nephews, Samuel Askey, with whom he lived with while Sam was a toddler; Sarah Askey; Jonathan Askey; Donielle Avery; Benjamin Shepherd; Rachel Shepherd; extended family; and close friends.
