Thelma "Toots" Margaret Mayer, 98, of Greeley passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Grace Pointe. For 94 years, Thelma lived in and close to Sturgis, South Dakota where she was born to Henry and Ida Mae (Sinclair) Hanlon on August 27, 1912. She attended Sturgis schools and graduated in 1930. On November 15, 1934, she married Howard Mayer. The couple lived on a small farm north of Sturgis where they farmed and ranched. Howard passed away in 1972 and shortly thereafter Thelma moved into town. She enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends. Thelma was a member of the Whitewood Presbyterian Church, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Woman's Club. In 2006, she moved to Colorado to be near her daughter. Survivors include her daughter Mary Lou (Gene) Bobier of Greeley, four grandchildren Michael Bobier (Felicia)of Los Angeles, CA, Jeanie LeRoux (Jim) of Albuquerque, NM, Brian Bobier (fiancé Justice Forchette) of Fort Collins, and Steven Bobier (fiancé Lara) of Tijuana, Mexico, four great-grandchildren Michaela Bobier of Los Angeles, Loren and Logan LeRoux of Albuquerque and Jackson Bobier of Fort Collins and 2 nieces Mary Beth Beutler of Merritt Island, FL and Sandra Burt of Seabrook, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Mary Hanrahan and brother Arld "Bud" Hanland. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD. Memorial gifts may be made to the Sturgis Senior Center in care of Allnutt, 702 13th St., Greeley, CO 80631.
