DEACON THEODORE ROOSEVELT WILLIAMS, affectionately known as, "T.R." or "Theo", was born to the late Samuel (Collins) Williams II and Goldie Bell Hicks Williams on May 25, 1935. He transitioned from his earthly labor on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Weldon, North Carolina.
During his early life, Theodore accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, was baptized, and joined the Elams Chapel Congregational Christian Church. He later served as a Deacon, and accepted all of his responsibilities with great dignity and commitment until his sunset.
Theodore began his formal education at Elams Colored School, and later, crossed the Roanoke River twice daily via the Eaton's Ferry, to attend the former John R. Hawkins High School in Warrenton, North Carolina.
Over the years, Theodore held several jobs to support his family: farming, logging, raising livestock, driving and owning buses and trucks. For some thirty years, he was employed in law enforcement as a police officer for the town of Warrenton, North Carolina, as a Deputy Sheriff for Warren County, North Carolina, and as a Sheriff of Warren County, North Carolina. In the late 1960's, he purchased an old school bus to transport children "Across the River" during the summer allowing them to take part in sports and other activities. His purchase of that bus would eventually grow into the Lake Gaston Bus Service, a chartered transportation corporation that he, along with his brothers, Samuel and Joseph, operated for some forty years.
In addition to his parents, Theodore was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Marzell Tucker Williams; his brothers: Otis Williams, Clarence Williams, James Williams, Mack Williams, Samuel Williams III, Franklin Williams, and Joseph Williams; and his sisters, Mildred Williams and Mildred Williams Collier.
Theodore is survived by three sons, Carlton Williams, Gerry Williams, and Greg Williams; One daughter, Karen Williams Polite; two sisters-in-law, Lobelia Whitfield and Alice Foust; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
An initial viewing will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Robinson Funeral Home, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. The final viewing will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the 12:00 noon funeral service time at Warren County Middle School, 118 Campus Drive, Warrenton, NC. Rev.
