Theresa "Terry" M. LaFountain, 88, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital.
She was born on August 6, 1936, in Janesville, WI, the daughter of the late John and Eleanor (Schultz) Campion. She attended the Janesville Schools, graduating with the Class of 1954. She earned her LPN degree from Milwaukee Technical College. Later, she attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan, graduating in 1975 with a degree in education.
Terry married Thomas "Tom" L. LaFountain on May 3, 1958, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Janesville, WI, and the couple celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in 2024. She served as receptionist at her husband's dental office for over 25 years.
Terry was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, St. Agnes Altar Society, and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the Lady Elks, the Iron River Country Club, and the Red Hat Society. She taught CCD, was a substitute teacher, and volunteered for Hospice. She enjoyed gardening, golfing, and was a Green Bay Packer fan.
Terry is survived by her husband, Thomas "Tom"; son, Thomas (Jill) LaFountain of South Bend, IN; daughters, JoAnn Tackmier of Munising, MI, Susan LaFountain of Iron River, MI, and Mary (Janette Lutz) LaFountain of Ann Arbor, MI; sisters, Monica Ghert of Beloit, WI, and Margaret (Jerry) Miller of Mukwonago, WI; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Lange, and brothers, John and James Campion.
A visitation will be held Monday, February 3, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes with Fr. Daniel Dapaah to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery in the spring.
