Theresa Lucilla (Pat) Musgrave passed away on July 16, 2025 at age 92. Pat was born on June 30, 1933 in Red Oak, Iowa, to John Smith and Lucilla (Conklin) Smith. She married Emmatt Nicholas (Nick) Musgrave (died 2017) on December 19, 1953. They were married for 63 years.
Pat was a career military officer's wife, and traveled the world with her husband and three sons. They eventually settled in Corvallis, Oregon. Pat studied at Oregon State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Once her boys were out of the house, she began work as a director for the American Red Cross. As retirement approached, Pat and Nick moved to Eugene, Oregon, where they remained.
We will always remember Pat (our mother) as a truly kind and compassionate person. She was a wonderful and sensitive mother, and always did the best that she could for her family, no matter where they were in the world – even as adults. A truly loving, thoughtful person. A good person. A rare person who never hurt anyone. Her easy laugh would light up the room. We miss her.
Pat is survived by son Martin and wife Edda; son Michael and Lauri; and son Mark and wife Diane. Also, three granddaughters and their spouses: Brianna (Brie) and husband Adam Gaffey; Amanda (Mandy) and husband Mathew Cohen; Jamie Musgrave and husband Jovani Alfonso. Also, three great-grandchildren: Keelia Brianna Gaffey, Macklin Musgrave Cohen, and Aleena Musgrave Alfonso.
A private family graveside burial was held on July 24, 2025, followed by a private family celebration of her life at home, along with the Musgrave traditional Dom champagne toast in her honor, a family tradition started by Mandy many years ago.
