Theresa (Terry) Marie McGuire Putlak, age 92, passed away July 31, 2024. Terry was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, on June 5, 1932 to John and Francis McGuire but spent the majority of her life, until her passing, at her home in Middletown, Kentucky. She graduated from Kelly High School where she met and married her sweetheart Jim. She began a career in banking in Chicago and later owned “The Cheer Hallmark Shop” with Jim in Louisville They were together 62 years and had three sons - Jim (Karen), Wayne (Kim), and Ken (Kim), 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Terry was a devout and caring Catholic, as well as a superb painter, dress maker, a talented athlete and an avid sports fan. She never missed a good Louisville or Kentucky sporting event and developed a wicked tennis game. To her son’s friends she was known as Mrs P because she welcomed and opened her house to them all. Neighbors and friends will remember her most for having a clever sense of humor, welcoming personality, a stylish fashion sense and a profound love for God and family. She lived a healthy and active life until the very end.
A memorial gathering will take place Sunday, August 18, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, with a celebration of life service to follow 4:00pm, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions, East Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville KY, 40243.
The family requests that in place of flowers, donations be made in Theresa's honor to the Alzheimer's Associates of Kentucky.
