Theresa Mary Slater

Theresa "Terry" Slater, 81, of Pompton Plains, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025.
Born and raised in East Paterson, Terry was the daughter of Donald and Mary Everette. She dedicated nearly 50 years of her career as a dental assistant most of which at Pompton Family Dental, where she was cherished by colleagues and patients alike.
Terry had a true love for life's simple joys. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, baking sweet treats, and of course, spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored and loved to spoil. She also treasured the lifelong bond she shared with her close circle of friends, affectionately known as "the Sequoias."
Terry is survived by her husband of 59 years, Thomas Slater; her children, Thomas and his wife Michele, Mindy and her husband Bill, and Mary and her husband Jamie; and her beloved grandchildren, Brian, Patrick, Neve, Aiden, Nolan, and Autumn.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 4–6 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Terry's memory to the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at the Icahn School of Medicine.
