Thomas Ackley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home & Crematory - Historical Downtown Chapel on Apr. 26, 2024.
Thomas "Bur" Gerard Ackley, age 62, of Naperville passed away on April 21, 2024 in Naperville, IL.
Bur is survived by Terry, his best friend and beloved wife of 35 years. He was a dedicated father to sons Rob, late Greg, and Ben (Megan) and grandfather to Palmer.
He is also survived by his siblings Barbara (late James) Koteles, Elizabeth, late James, Vincent (late Rebecca), Robert (late Karin), William (late Lisa), Francis (Yvette), Mary (Andrew) Mack, and Grace (Larry) Mack; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Greg Ackley; brother, James; parents, Robert and Mary Ackley.
Bur cherished his family, loved God, and shared his love for God with others. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Palmer Grace brought endless joy to his life, which he always said he was honored to be her Grandpa. Bur was a devoted man of God who shared his faith continuously and was an avid prayer warrior. He was a generous man with a compassionate heart who always wanted to help others and had a smile on his face while doing so. He was a phenomenal role model and mentor who led by example. He was a "best friend" to many.
As an enthusiastic fisherman, he would often be found with a fishing pole in his hand with fishing buddies by his side. He owned his own HVAC company, RGB Mechanical, and named it in honor of his three sons, Rob, Greg and Ben. Tom was a true craftsman in his trade, always doing a great job with pride. He built relationships with whomever he worked alongside, many becoming lifelong friends. His love for family, God, and others is a legacy that he leaves behind.
Celebration of Life visitation will be May 19 from 1-4 pm at Grace United Methodist Church located at 300 E Gartner Road, Naperville, IL 60564. Celebration of Life Service will follow from 4-5 pm at Grace United Methodist Church in the Sanctuary.

Thomas was definately a pen for God's expression. Thomas was a gentle soul. He always led by example. I knew that I could always count on him when I needed someone to talk to or if I needed help with something. Thomas was the guy that would drop whatever he was doing and help a person out with selfless intentions. Again, thank you for your friendship, guidance and mentorship. Your benevolent nature is a role model for all men to follow. RIP my brother.

Tom was truly a man´s man. Tom was important to so many people and always so nice with a big smile. Tom truly knew it was nice to be important, but more importantly to be nice. Tom´s love for his family was second to none. Tom was always right up the middle finding a solution that benefited all. Tom was a true craftsman in his trade always doing a great job with pride. We will all miss Tom here on earth as we go about our lives, but we will always have our special memories of this great man!!
