Mr. Thomas "Therrell" Banks, age 89, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7;00 pm Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Gainesville. Reverend Shon Peppers will officiate.
Therrell was born November 19, 1934 in Sargent, Georgia. He was the son of the late Jessie Florence Banks and Mamie Clyde Pilkenton Banks. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Banks and Paul Banks; sisters, Margaret Banks Jennings and Elizabeth Banks Orr.
He is originally from Newnan, Georgia. He attended Truett McConnell University and graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor's Degree. He attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville. He was the Director of RYDC with the State of Georgia and he was the pastor of Greenwood Baptist Church in Lincolnton, Georgia. He enjoyed woodworking, painting, and making jewelry. He loved the Lord and he can now hear and walk freely.
Therrell is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Francis Kennedy Banks; daughter, Jan Banks; sister, Ellen Banks Long; daughter by choice, Sheila Herndon Rogers; son by choice, Tracy Rogers; granddaughter by choice, Sara Kate Rogers; grandson by choice, Tyler Rogers (Ashlee Osteen) and great grandson by choice, Huck Rogers and a number of other family and friends also survive.
