In Loving Memory of Thomas David Brewer
With full hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we remember Thomas David Brewer, who passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, at the age of 74.
Born to James Ardell and Agnes Brewer, both of whom preceded him in death, Thomas grew up shaped by resilience, faith, and a quiet determination that carried him throughout his life. As a junior in high school, he was among the first students to integrate Bowman High School (now Anson High) in Wadesboro—an experience that demanded courage and grace. He went on to graduate at the top of his class in 1969 - the school’s second integrated class, a milestone that remained a point of quiet pride.
A self-taught guitarist, Thomas shared his gift of music with honor and joy. His melodies filled churches, gospel groups, family reunions, and countless gatherings where his presence-and his playing-brought comfort, celebration, and connection.
Thomas dedicated more than 30 years to a career with BellSouth, beginning as a lineman and working his way into leadership through talent, perseverance, and an unwavering work ethic. Never one to stop growing, he later returned to college and earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Montreat College in 1997, exemplifying his belief in lifelong learning.
He was an avid bowler and took pride in competing tournaments near and far.
Thomas is lovingly survived by his daughters, Tanya and Tamara; his cherished grandson, Pearson; his brother, James Ardell Jr. (Carol); niece, Kena; nephew, James Brewer (Diana); and a host of cousins, friends, and colleagues.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Via Health Partners (formerly Via Hospice & Palliative Care), Charlotte Region, 705 Griffith St, Suite 203, Davidson, NC - the organization that provided compassionate support during Thomas’ final chapter.
Thomas’s legacy lives on in the music he played, the strength he modeled, and the family who will miss him dearly.
