He was born on September 17, 1938, in Duson, Louisiana to Beaulah Foote Brown and Sosthene Brown. Thomas served in the United States Army for 4 years. When he returned home, he met and married his beloved wife, Mary Barbara Breaux Brown. They were married for 56 wonderful years. Together they raised four beautiful children: Thomas Brown Jr. of Lafayette, LA; Joseph Wayne Brown, Tammy Brown and Sherelle Brown all of Humble, Texas. One sister Ruth Ann Brown of Lafayette, La. He also is the proud grandfather to Richard (Arisa) Cale of San Diego, California and Jacob Brown of Humble, TX.

Thomas dedicated much of his life to hard work and community service. He worked in the Water Distribution Department for the City of Lafayette for 35 years, where he rose through the ranks to become Supervisor. He also worked a second job during the early mornings for 15 years as a bulk mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in the rural area to support his family. His strong work ethic and friendly spirit allowed him to meet and connect with countless people throughout the community. Even after retirement he was asked to return to the city in the Infrastructure Engineering Department for an additional 16 years of service. Thomas also served through his church, Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, where he was a faithful member for 50 plus years.

When he was not working, Thomas enjoyed life's simple joys. He was a devoted fan of Zydeco music and a dedicated walker. Known for his fast-paced walking, he often left others nearly running just to keep up with him. On his walks through the neighborhood park, his energy and determination inspired many neighbors and friends to join him on his walks over the years. He also loved working in his garden.

Thomas was proceeded in death by his loving wife of 56 years Mary Barbara Breaux Brown. His parents Beaulah Foote Brown and Sosthene Brown; his brothers Roy Brown and Earl Brown and a granddaughter Jaylynn Brown. Thomas will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of sharing in his life. His memory will forever remain in the Hearts of those who loved him.

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." John 14:1-3
