Thomas Cahill Obituary
Published by Legacy on Nov. 10, 2025.
MATTAWAMKEAG/BANGOR - Thomas A. Cahill Jr., 62, passed away on November 6, 2025, at his home. He was born on December 1, 1962, in Lincoln, the beloved son of Thomas Arthur Sr. and Constance (Richard) Cahill.
Tom found joy and entertainment in many activities and things throughout his life. When he was younger, he would often be found going for a walk with his mother, swinging on the porch swing, or swimming at the community pool. He appreciated long car rides with family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed recently experiencing how to drive a boat. Tom loved music, with recent favorite songs being "Bar Song" and "Buy Dirt" as well as his longtime favorite artists Neil Sedaka, The Oak Ridge Boys, and Neil Diamond. He enjoyed Reese's peanut butter cups, Pepsi, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Above all of this though, Tom loved his family and friends the most and was a master at communicating with them, even without the use of words; he was funny, loving, smart, sweet, and most definitely a bit mischievous. He loved fiercely and was one of the strongest, most resilient people you would ever meet, qualities admired by his family and all who knew him.
Thomas is survived by his very devoted mother, Constance Cahill of Mattawamkeag, his siblings, Cathy and her husband Jerry Locke of South Berwick, Tim and his wife Lynn Cahill of Freeport, Mary Cahill and her husband Jerry Conley of Portland, Therese Cahill of Winthrop, Beth Cahill and her husband Gary Stillman of Buffalo, NY., Kristen Cahill and her partner David Anthony of Harpswell, his aunts and uncles Rick and his wife Dawn Richard, Greg and his wife Arlette Richard, Barbie and her husband Mike Fletcher, Christine and her husband Chuck Shuman, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his best friend, Hanan Alobaidi, and longtime friend and housemate Jesse, as well as his many friends he made over the years at OHI.
He was predeceased by his father Thomas A. Cahill Sr., his grandparents, Edward and Frances Richard and Glenwood and Josephine Cahill, several aunts and uncles, and his dear friend Tony Gagnon.
The family would like to especially thank all his longtime supporters during his time at OHI, particularly Becca, Duane, Deb, and Bonnie, as well as his case manager Vicki. The family sends many thanks to Jenifer, Aline, Patrick and all the staff at Fidelity Adult Care for making Tom feel loved, relaxed, and at home; special gratitude to Innocent, Joseph, and Jay for their superior care to Tom and the family on his final day. The family would also like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their loving care, especially the amazing nurses Lauren and Anna as well as Dr. Redding. Additionally, the family sends special appreciation to Dr. Zachary Smith and Colleen Gilley for the wonderful care they provided in the past few years.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at St. Mary's of Lourdes Catholic Church, 142 Main St., Lincoln, with Mass beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in the Mattawamkeag Cemetery. To share condolences and memories online, visit www.bowersfuneral.com.
