Thomas "Mike" Colignon, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, in Greer, South Carolina, at the age of 88. Born on February 3, 1937, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to the late James Colignon and Katherine Ringwood, Mike lived a life marked by service, culinary passion, and an unwavering love for his family and friends.

Mike's journey began in the heartland of America, but his adventurous spirit and dedication to his country led him to serve in the United States Navy. His time in the service instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. After his military service, Mike's love for cooking took him to the rugged landscapes of Alaska, where he worked as a chef for the pipeline, mastering the art of hearty, comforting meals that warmed the souls of many.

Eventually, Mike's culinary path led him back to the South, where he became the pastry chef at Gerard's in Greer, South Carolina. His delicate pastries and sumptuous desserts became a staple of the local community, and his warm, inviting presence in the kitchen made him a beloved figure among colleagues and patrons alike.

Mike's interests extended far beyond the kitchen. He was an avid reader, always with a book in hand, ready to explore new worlds and ideas. His love for socializing was evident in his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, making lifelong friends wherever he went. A keen observer of politics, he stayed informed and engaged, always ready to offer a thoughtful perspective on the issues of the day. His passion for cars, from classic models to the latest innovations, was yet another facet of his multifaceted personality.

Above all, Mike was a family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Nida Colignon, his devoted son, Michael Thomas Colignon, and his adored grandson, Grayson Thomas Michael Colignon. Though he was predeceased by his daughter, Katherine Marie Colignon, her memory remained a guiding light in his life. Mike's legacy of love and kindness is reflected in the lives of those he touched, and his memory will be cherished in the stories they continue to share.

Those who knew Mike will remember him as a loving, friendly, and intelligent man. His laughter was infectious, his wisdom profound, and his generosity knew no bounds. Mike's life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, filled with moments of joy, learning, and an abundance of love.

As we bid farewell to Thomas "Mike" Colignon, we celebrate a life that was as rich and flavorful as the dishes he so lovingly prepared. His spirit will continue to inspire us, reminding us to embrace each day with passion, curiosity, and an open heart. Mike's journey on this earth has ended, but his story will be told for generations to come, a story of a man who made the world a warmer, more welcoming place for all.
