Thomas A. Connery Sr.

Thomas A. Connery, Sr., 63, of Newington, passed away peacefully in his home on July 28, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Roberts) Connery for nearly 32 years. Thomas was born in New Britain on October 17, 1960, son of the late Bernard and Dorothy (Luppino) Connery. He was a longtime Newington resident, graduate of E.C. Goodwin Technical High School in New Britain, and member of the Newington United Methodist Church. Thomas worked many years as a Finish Carpenter, crafting beautiful staircases and other fine wood workings. He later became a Service Manager in the automotive industry and then changed careers to become a truck driver, last driving for Pitney Bowes. Thomas was a member of the Fifth Chapter Motorcycle Club and loved to ride and drive, whether it had two wheels or 18 wheels, he enjoyed being on the road. He was a long standing member of Alcoholics Anonymous with 42 years of sobriety, helping countless people through the years on their road to recovery. Thomas was the love of Nancy's life and will be remembered as a kind, gracious, and simple man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
Along with his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his children Crystal Connery, Kayla Swormstedt and her husband Eric, and Thomas Connery, Jr.; grandchildren Emmett and Zayden; siblings James Connery and his wife Kriss, Ann Marie Townsend, and John Connery and his wife Joyce; many special nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his mother-in-law Louise Roberts. Thomas was predeceased by his granddaughter in heaven, Serenity; and father-in-law William Roberts. Thomas's family would like to thank the Hartford Healthcare Home Hospice Team for the exceptional care provided to him in his final days.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Thomas's family on Friday, August 2nd, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Home at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. His funeral service will take place in the funeral home on Saturday, August 3rd, at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in West Meadow Cemetery.
