Thomas was born in Mineola NY in 1933 to Angela Scopellite and Thomas W. Osborne. Angela (Jean) later re-married and Thomas was adopted by Rafael Costagliola of Procida, Italy. Thomas grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from The NYC High School of Performing Arts in 1952, majoring in the Violin. He graduated City College in 1957 where he majored in Education.
Thomas was a beloved Language teacher for over 40 years at various schools, including PS 201 Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, IS-24 Barnes and Countess Moore HS in Staten Island. During his summer recesses, he worked at JFK Airport, first for Alitalia Airlines and later as an Inspector for the US Immigration and Naturalization Service.
Thomas was an accomplished violinist and had a lifelong love of classical music and Opera. Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Graziella (Grace), and two brothers, Grant and Robert Osborne. He is survived by his brother David Osborne of Michigan, three sons, Ralph, Mario and Thomas, and six grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held on October 25th, at 1045 AM, at Holy Family RC Church, 366 Watchogue Road, Staten Island NY 10314.
