Ronald E. Suchodolski, 79, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, in Whippany, New Jersey, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Ron was raised by his devoted mother, Florence "Sissy" Burke, and stepfather, John Burke. He attended Midwood High School in Brooklyn. After graduating, Ron was drafted into the United States Army, where he served as a forward observer during a combat tour in Vietnam. Upon returning home as a proud veteran, he pursued higher education while working full-time, ultimately earning his bachelor's degree from the City College of New York and a master's degree from Baruch College.
Ron enjoyed a successful professional career, rising through the ranks of the publishing and early childhood education industries. He ultimately served as President of Childcraft Education before retiring. In retirement, Ron relocated to Florida's Gulf Coast, trading his business attire for Hawaiian shirts and swim trunks. As a true people person, he loved music, was always singing, and never missed a chance to dance with anyone willing to join him.
Ron's favorite pastimes included traveling-especially to Disney World and Aruba-casino hopping, "May I" rummy, building intricate and beautiful Christmas villages, and cheering on his beloved New York Jets. His grandchildren were his absolute pride and joy.
He is survived by his children, Keith (Amanda) and Craig; his grandchildren, Nathan and Layla; his sisters, Eileen (Bob) Suppa and Nancy (Robert) Guidice; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his younger brothers, Robert Burke and Jack Burke.
Those who knew Ron would describe him as intelligent, friendly, and full of warmth. His laughter was infectious, his advice invaluable, and his presence a source of comfort. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, leadership, and deep love for his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org or by mail to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
