Joanne McMahon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home - Chatham on Dec. 8, 2025.
In loving remembrance of Joanne Mary McMahon, a beacon of light and love, whose journey on this earth began May 20th, 1952, in Newark, NJ. She walked into the embrace of the Lord on December 5th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love during her earthly stay.
She was a cherished daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and the dearest wife, whose life was defined by goodness each day.
Born to parents Joseph and Estelle Franzonia, Joanne's heart was a home to Paula Engber and Jenny Wallace, her sisters so dear.
With Dennis Carey and Joseph Carey, her sons, she shared love so clear, and through Tara and Lulu, daughters-in-law, family joy did appear. Hazel, Joseph, Simon, and Austin, her grandchildren, were her pride, special gifts that made her life a joyful ride.
Her soulmate and life's companion, William McMahon, stood by her side. Together they journeyed through life, with love as their guide. Their hearts entwined, a friendship so divine, they faced each day with hands intertwined.
Joanne's education, a lifelong journey for knowledge began at Our Lady of Sorrows, then to Columbia High and Seton Hall University for college. Places where her wisdom did flourish, her mind and spirit the students would nourish.
As a First Grade Teacher at Mount Pleasant, Joanne was second to none. For her, the students were always number one. Her endless stories and poems came straight from her heart, making everyone special was Joanne's extraordinary art. She wrote four children's books, dedicated to each grandchild, within their pages, her love for them was proclaimed.
A woman of faith, her Christian heart knew no bounds, in the church, her praises and prayers were profound. Her life, a melody of service and grace, in the Lord's choir, she found her place.
Joanne's kitchen is where magic was spun her lasagna and sour cream cake, were second to none. Who can forget the overnight French toast, but the Christmas crack is what everyone loved most. She learned from Estelle, her mother and best friend, a bond that time could not erase, in every recipe, a touch of her mother's grace.
With Marley, then Teddy in the basket so snug, she pedaled her tandem bike, giving each a hug. Music and dancing, her spirit did soar, with every step, joy would pour.
Now she dances in Heaven's choir, her voice once more, a celestial lyre,
Joanne Mary McMahon, we say goodbye, your memory, in us, will never die,
We thank the Lord for the time we've had, with Joanne, our angel, we are glad.
Rest now in peace, your journey's done, your legacy shines like the morning sun,
We'll hold you close in our hearts' embrace, until we meet in God's own grace,
Joanne Mary McMahon, a soul so bright, now rests in Heaven's eternal light
