Martin Lawless Adams, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on October 31, 2025, in Jupiter, Florida, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Coventry, United Kingdom, on March 16, 1951, Martin's zest for life and enduring optimism left a lasting impact on everyone he met throughout his 74 years.
Martin's journey began in the heart of England, where he attended Foxford Comprehensive School, followed by Coventry Technical College for his A-levels. His thirst for knowledge led him to Coventry University, where he earned his degree in Chemical Engineering. Not one to rest on his laurels, Martin furthered his education at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, earning a degree in accounting-a testament to his versatile intellect and tireless work ethic.
In 1977, Martin embarked on a remarkable career with the British Oxygen Company in the UK, quickly establishing himself as a leader in advanced technology projects across Europe. His pioneering spirit brought him to the United States in 1988, where he continued to innovate at BOC/AIRCO's Murray Hill, NJ office. Martin's exceptional contributions to the "Smart Tank" technology earned him the prestigious President's Award in 1990. Yet, it was his entrepreneurial spirit that shone brightest when he co-founded Clover Systems Incorporated, transforming the family garage in Chatham, NJ, into a global supplier of monitoring technology to the industrial gas industry. In 2020, his achievements were recognized when Ernst and Young (EY) honored him as Entrepreneur of the Year.
Martin's life was guided by his Christian faith, which sustained him through life's trials and triumphs. He was a man of many interests, from the tranquility of the ocean to the thrill of the mountains. An exceptional swimmer and talented skier, Martin later found joy in boating and golfing with his sons. He cherished time spent in Jupiter, FL, and the Colorado mountains, finding peace and renewal in nature.
A massive football enthusiast, Martin supported England and Liverpool Football Clubs with unwavering passion, traveling the globe to cheer on England at major tournaments. His love for sports extended to F1, cricket, snooker, golf, and rugby. Martin was also a culinary explorer and an extraordinary host, delighting in sharing his love for diverse cultures and cuisines with friends and family.
Music played a harmonious role in Martin's life, from his early days playing the trumpet to his fondness for brass band music. His life's soundtrack was one of joy, camaraderie, and celebration.
Martin is survived by his loving wife, Helen Adams; his sons, Richard, Andrew, Michael, and Jamie; his daughter-in-laws, Harriet and Lori; and his cherished grandchildren, Matilda, Florence, Liam, and Kate. His sister, Patricia (Trisha), will fondly remember her brother's unwavering spirit and boundless love.
In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived-this is to have succeeded." Martin Lawless Adams lived by this creed, touching lives with his generosity, innovation, and warmth. His legacy is one of love, resilience, and the profound difference one person can make in the lives of many. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always celebrated.
