As part of his legacy Bob and former Trooper Joe Keely established the "Barn Luncheon" for retired troopers to have a place to go and meet up monthly.
Bob was a member of the American Legion in Whippany and Florham Park. He was a parishioner of St Anthony's in West Orange where he regularly attended the Traditional mass and proudly acted as usher.
Bob had a tremendous love of history and Country music and was renowned for his love of dogs. He was a staunch supporter of Irish freedom and a re-united Ireland. He was a founding member of the Irish-American Fenian Society where he served as National Delegate. He was a dedicated supporter of Irish Northern Aid, Michael Flannery and Republican Sinn Fein. He was a founder member of the Morris County St Patrick's Day parade serving as Grand Marshal in Wharton New Jersey in 1982-1983.
Bob is survived by his wife of 30 years Anne Brannigan Hughes from South Armagh, in Ireland, along with his sister Barbara Bowers, his step-son John Hughes, sisters-in-law Brigid Farrell and Sheila Brannigan, brothers-in-law Lou Bowers (RIP), Michael and Tony Brannigan and much loved by his nieces and nephews as well as grand-nieces and nephews.

Loved by all the McKinley family from across the water. Lovely memories of our trip to your home when I was 10 years old. You and Aunty Anne made us feel so welcome and we have memories that we will never forget - especially singing "Take me out to the ball game" in your car. RIP Bob. Thinking of you, Aunty Anne and John xx Love Tara, Kris, Hannah and Emma McKay xx

So many fond memories of Bob, his smile, his laughter, his story telling and his love of dogs. I will always cherish the bond he had with my beloved dog Maggie. She loved him too! Rest in heaven Bob....you deserve it.
