Thomas Cody Davis, 80, of Venice Fl passed away peacefully, on August 6, 2025 after a brief
illness.
Born March 11, 1945 in Morris Illinois he graduated from Morris High School (1963) and
Western Illinois University (1967). A career in education had him teaching in Illinois,
Connecticut and New Hampshire. He then earned a Master's degree in Educational
Administration from Westfield State College leading to service as a school administrator on
Cape Cod, in New Hampshire, Texas and as Principal at Foxborough High School in
Massachusetts.
Throughout his life he was adored for his welcoming personality, respected for his strong work
ethic and loved for his wildly hilarious sense of humor. His love for people knew no boundaries.
Tom was a man you could always count on to help with any job, to offer wisdom with his
pragmatic problem solving ability, or simply as a fun easy going guy to spend time boating with
or playing golf.
Tom leaves behind his wife Ellen of 38 years and his children Christopher (Jessie), Jeremy
(Lauren) and Carrie (Davey) along with grandchildren Sam, Hannah, Harrison, Benjamin
(Taylor), Gabby and Mia Grace. Olivia and Ana consider 'Grampa Tom' their third grandfather
as well. Tom is also survived by his brother John of Morris Il, and several nieces and nephews.
Tom was well known for his dedication to serving others in every community he spent time,
Grace United Methodist Church in Venice, West Parish of Barnstable, Ma. the handbell choirs at
both churches, the Venice Chorale, Bahia Vista Club in Venice and The Coalition of Essential
Schools as well as mentoring and inspiring many people that walked in and out of his life
throughout the years.
Memorial Services are scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025 at 1 pm at Grace United Methodist
Church Venice Fl. Services are being planned for Cape Cod later this fall. Burial will be in
Venice and on the hillside next to the meetinghouse at West Parish of Barnstable where Tom
and Ellen were married in 1987. In lieu of flowers the family asks you to consider making a
donation to Tidewell Hospice of Sarasota, 5957 Rand Blvd. Sarasota FL 34238 or Grace United
Methodist Church 400 Field Ave E Venice FL 34285.

God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
Our hearts are heavy with the sudden passing of Tom. We have wonderful memories of Easter meals hosted by Ellen & Tom in Venice. Always welcoming the BVC guests!

George and I are saddened by the passing of Tom. We enjoyed many years of friendship with Tom and Ellen. Tom was a generous and loyal friend and he had a great partner in Ellen. We will miss him.
