Alma Jean Davis, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully and went to be her Lord & Savior on August 10, 2025, after a courageous journey with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born September 29, 1939 in New Haven, Illinois to Eugene & Amele Forrester, of Norris City, Illinois, who preceded her in death. She had one sister, Tootie Thomas of Norris City, who also preceded her in death, in 2004. Alma graduated from High School in Norris City, Illinois in May 1957 and immediately married the love of her life, James Lee (Jim) Davis on June 14, 1957. They moved to Carbondale, Illinois, so Jim could finish up his degree at Southern Illinois University. While at SIU, Alma gave birth to their first child (Bruce) on November 8, 1958. After graduation, they moved back home to Norris City, where Jim took a job with Carter Oil Company, Carmi, Illinois (which later became Humble Oil Company. Shortly thereafter, the couple welcomed their second child (Laura) on November 8, 1961, exactly 3 years after their son. In October 1969, her husband accepted a promotion and the couple relocated to New Orleans, La, for a 1-year assignment, then moved to Hobbs, NM for three years, and finally to their final home in Oklahoma City, in March 1973. They soon joined Cherokee Hills Christian Church, where they served for over 30 years. As an accomplished pianist, Alma has played the piano by ear, since she was a young girl. For her entire life, she used her talent to honor God by playing the piano for church services, church choir, and accompanied a host of vocalists on the piano. In 2003, Alma and her husband became charter members of Westside Christian Church, in Oklahoma City. She utilized her musical talent to glorify God at Westside Christian Church, also, until her health forced her to stop. As a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, or just a friend, anyone that knew Alma, loved her. Known as "Mimi" by her grandchildren, she was beautiful on the inside & out, and had a passion for helping people. Alma is survived by her husband (Jim), son Bruce Davis (Dana) & daughter Laura Murphy (Bill), 4 granddaughters - Jamie Westbrook (Kyle), Lindsay Ivory (Kyle), Megan Franks (Matt), Madison Murphy, 4 great-grandsons Wyatt Westbrook, Davis & Blake Ivory, and Eli Franks, all of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by nieces Vickie Harshbarger & Libby Wilson, and Great Nieces Breck Harshbarger, Ashley Condrey (Cory) and Great Nephew Chris Harshbarger, of Houston, Tx. Alma passed peacefully into God's presence, with all of her family spending time by her side the last few hours of her life. Her family would like to thank all the staff at Iris Memory Care for the excellent care she received for the last 2 ½ years. Their caring & compassion was second to none. A Celebration of Alma's life will be on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 11 am at Buchanan Funeral Service, 8712 N Council Rd, Oklahoma City, OK 73132. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Iris Memory Care NW OKC in memory of Alma Davis, at 12000 N MacArthur Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73162.
